Items of note for Autodesk ® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation (ESEC) 2010 Product Release
 ESEC 2010 will be the first release of a new suite that combines Autodesk® Maya® 2010, Autodesk® 3ds Max®
2010, Autodesk® Softimage® 2010, Autodesk® MotionBuilder® 2010 and Autodesk® Mudbox™ 2010 software in a
single kit.
 Autodesk ®SketchBook® Pro 2010 software is also anticipated to be included as a bonus software technology.
 Pricing and configuration options for qualifying Education customers will be changed. Please refer to the
Education price book for local details.
 ESEC 2010 will be available as a Student version as either a 13-month or perpetual license term.
 Customers without current Autodesk® Subscription may elect to cross grade from Autodesk® Maya® Complete
2008 or Autodesk® Maya® Complete 2009 and/or Autodesk® Maya® Unlimited 2008 or Autodesk® Maya®
Unlimited 2009 software , Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2009 or Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2010 software, and Autodesk®
Maya® Unlimited 2009 or Autodesk®3ds Max® 2010 Super Pack to the suite. Customers will likely consider and
refer to these cross grades as typical upgrades, however, from an Autodesk sales transaction standpoint it is
important to note these are cross grade skus
 Autodesk® Maya®2010 does not support PowerPC® computers using the Mac OS® X operating system or Linux®
operating system 32-bit.
 At this time, Autodesk® MotionBuilder® 2010 will not be available for the Linux® or Mac OS®X operating systems
 Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2010 has been tested on Intel®-Macintosh® computers running Apple® Boot Camp®
software with Windows® XP or Windows Vista® operating system. Virtual machine environments will not be
supported.
 ESEC 2010 will utilize AdLM as its licensing method.
 An updated Autodesk® Subscription offering and pricing2 is available for Education Suites customers

o Autodesk® Subscription with Gold Support3 for Maya, MotionBuilder and Softimage

Education Business Rules
General Business Rules for Autodesk® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation (ESEC)
 ESEC 2010 network licenses will float across any of the product-specific supported platforms included in the
suite.
 ESEC 2010 will be sold in 10, 25, 125 and 500 class packs, network or standalone , term or perpetual, with an
option for additional licenses , if required
 Use of the software is intended only for EDUCATIONAL purposes and/or projects. No production, for profit or
commercial use of the software suite will be permitted.
 Education customers must elect a single point of contact (from within the educational institution) for all
support-related issues
 Student and faculty versions of Autodesk software are intended for personal instructional use. For further
explanation and additional information, please reference the End-User License Agreement (EULA) included with
the software
 Qualifying Education customers are:
o Accredited public or private universities, colleges, and vocational training centers that grant
government-approved degrees, diplomas or certificates
o Accredited public or private secondary (lower, middle, high) school providing full-time instruction for
grades (levels) kindergarten through 12
o Named Education entities approved by Autodesk
o Education consortiums where each member is an accredited school
 Qualifying Student customers include the following:
o Full-time students enrolled in a degree/diploma/certificate-granting program at an approved Education
institution (see above)
Version Upgrade Rules
 There will be no version upgrade paths available for the Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010 at this
time. Please refer to cross grade options noted here (below).
Student version to COMMERCIAL upgrades
 If a customer has purchased any of the following Autodesk student version software applications at least 6
months prior or are graduating in the near future the customer may want to consider upgrading their student
license to a commercial version.
 Graduating students who qualify can opt to upgrade their Autodesk student license to a commercial license at a
discounted price*. Please see the eligibility rules below. Commercial versions allow you to use the software for
profit, whereas student copies are restricted from such practices.
 Please note: This is a one-time ONLY Upgrade. Students opting to convert their license are no longer eligible to
purchase any Autodesk software under the terms of the Autodesk Education program. Please note that at this
time only the following Autodesk student versions software is eligible under this conversion upgrade program:

Product cross-grades to Autodesk ® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010
 Qualifying Education customers with current Subscription for Autodesk® Maya® 2009 Super Pack , Autodesk® 3ds
Max® 2010 Super Pack, Autodesk® Maya® [Complete and/or Unlimited] 2009 and/or Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2010
may elect to cross grade to the Autodesk Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010.
 Qualifying Education customers without current Subscription (for Autodesk® Maya® 2009 Super Pack and/or
Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2009 and/or 2010 Super Pack ) may elect to purchase a cross grade to the ESEC 2010 at a
significant discount4. Please refer to your local Education price book for pricing and configuration details2.
 Qualifying Education customers without current subscription (for Autodesk® Maya® [Complete or Unlimited]
2009 and/or Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2009 and/or2010) may elect to purchase a license cross grade to the ESEC
2010 at a significant discount4. Please refer to your local Education price book for pricing and configuration
details2.
 Student Super Pack purchases will not be eligible for cross grades to the suite; however Students may purchase
the suite. Please refer to your local Education price book for Student Version license purchase options2.
 Other Education customers not currently on Subscription with active licenses of Autodesk® Maya® 2009 Super
Pack and/or Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2009 and/or 2010 Super Pack, Autodesk® Maya® [Complete or Unlimited] 2009,
Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2009 and/or2010 or Autodesk® Softimage® 7.5 software may elect to purchase a cross grade
to the ESEC suite 2010 at a significant discount4. Please refer to your local Education price book for pricing and
configuration details2.
New Customer Sales
 Shipping for the release of the Autodesk® Education Suite for Autodesk Entertainment Creation 2010 is expected
to begin on August 24, 2009.
 No electronic software download (ESD) will be available for new sales.

Subscription and Subscription with Gold Support Customers —Boxed software

Authorized Education Resellers—Shipping Software
 The First Dealer Ship for Autodesk® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010 (ESEC 2010) is targeted for
early September 2009. Each qualified Autodesk Education Reseller should receive one ESEC 2010 not for resale
(NFR) software kit shortly following this date.
Product Licensing – Autodesk Licensing Manager (AdLM)
 ESEC 2010 will utilize AdLM as its licensing method.
 ESEC 2010 will have License Borrowing capabilities.
 The ESEC 2010 AdLM license will not encrypt previous versions of Autodesk Maya, Autodesk MotionBuilder,
Mudbox, Softimage or 3ds Max.
Kit Contents and Documentation
 All boxed software kits will contain:
o One (1) DVD that includes all Autodesk® Maya® 2010 software supported platforms (Windows/Mac OS X
32-bit and Windows/Linux 64-bit).
o Two (2) DVDs for Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2010 software– software, documentation, tutorials and resources
for all supported platforms (Windows 32 and 64-bit)
o One (1) DVD for Autodesk® Softimage® 2010 software for all supported platforms (Windows 32-64-bit)
o One (1) DVD for Autodesk® MotionBuilder® 2010 software for all supported platforms
o One (1) DVD for Autodesk® Mudbox® 2010 software: for all supported platforms (Windows/Mac X OS)
o One (1) DVD for Autodesk® Sketchbook Pro® 2010 software: for all supported platforms (Windows/Mac
X OS)
 Autodesk will continue to provide minimal printed documentation for all boxed software kits.
 All documentation will be contained on the DVDs and a READ ME FIRST document bundled in the software kit.

30 Day Return Policy
 All return requests must be submitted to the Autodesk Business Center (ABC) within 30 days of invoice date. No
partial returns will be allowed. The return request quantity must match the quantity displayed on the invoice.
 Exception: In the event Autodesk discontinues, retires or obits a product, ABC will support partial returns of such
products within 30 days of invoice date.
E-commerce
 Education versions and Education suites will not be offered online at this time.
Customer Support for New Licenses
 All new purchases of Autodesk® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010 software will receive thirty
(30) days complimentary Up & Ready Support5 from the date of registration, which will cover installation,
licensing, and hardware issues only.
Autodesk ® Subscription and Autodesk® Subscription with Gold support
Autodesk Subscription and Autodesk Subscription with Gold Support will be available for purchase by Education
customers for Autodesk® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation 2010.
Autodesk Subscription includes:
 Access to the latest release made available during the term of the customer’s contract, this includes major
releases and feature extensions
 Learning resources
 Access to a technical knowledge base
 Home use benefits
 Product downloads of licensed products from the Autodesk Subscription Center
Autodesk Subscription with Gold Support includes everything that Autodesk Subscription offers plus:
 Telephone support
 Web support
 Access to Ask Autodesk discussion forums
 Defect reporting and tracking
 Application Programming Interface (API) developer support

Education Business Rules
Note for Education customers
 All current licenses (whether Standalone or Network licenses) must be added to a Subscription contract.
Customers cannot elect to include only a portion of their current license on a Subscription or Subscription
with Gold Support contract.
 Education customers must elect a single point of contact (from within the educational institution) for ALL
support-related issues
Autodesk ® Subscription Late Renewal Policy
 Customers may renew up to thirty (30) days past their contract expiration date without penalty or additional
charges.
 Contracts that will be expired between 31 to 364 days will be eligible for late renewal processing provided the
following criteria are met:
o Customer must pay the Autodesk® Subscription Renewal fee and Late Renewal Processing fee for every
license of Maya purchased by the customer. Please refer to price list posted on the Partner Portal.
 Contracts that have expired 365+ days will not be eligible for renewal.
Autodesk ® Subscription-only products- Education
 Autodesk® Animation Academy and Autodesk® Education Suite for Entertainment Creation will be subscription-
only offerings.
 Subscription-only offerings will have no upgrade paths available for customers to who wish to use the most
current release. In order to receive the latest release for Subscription-only offerings, customers must either,
purchase the latest product license or maintain an active (current) Subscription contract.
 For Education customers not on a current release, Subscription retroactive fees, based on the version they
currently own, will need to be paid. Subscription for the current year (or prorated to match a current contract
term) is mandatory. Customer who do not wish to purchase Subscription (for the current year), may purchase a
new license of the most current version.
 Retroactive fees will be applicable for releases up to 3 previous versions behind the current release.

Autodesk Learning Tools & Resources
 Autodesk Authorized Education Resellers will be authorized to purchase and distribute Autodesk Learning Tools.
 Pricing for Learning Tools products can be found in the Reseller Price List, posted on the Partner Portal.
 Customer information will not be required for orders of Learning Tools.
 As well as books and DVD’s Autodesk offers open access to a variety of free, online, self-paced curriculum and
learning resources created by educators and industry professionals and approved by Autodesk. Downloads will
be posted online and on our Community sites.
